The Woman’s Club of Palo Alto

The Woman's Club of Palo Alto was founded in 1894 by enterprising citizens of Palo Alto many of whom led the development of the city's early infrastructure, including schools, libraries, churches, and clean water and sewage systems. Well before suffrage gave them the opportunity to vote and run for office, these women leaders created the Palo Alto Woman’s Club for friendship, self- improvement and community involvement, a mission that continues nearly 120 years later.
